Future Tense
Future Tense is used to describe a future event that has not yet happened or is expected to happen in the future.
Future Tense has been classified into four categories. They are as follows –
- Simple Future Tense or Future Indefinite Tense
- Future Continuous Tense
- Future Perfect Tense (rarely used)
- Future Perfect Continuous Tense (rarely used)
Simple Future Tense
Simple Future Tense is used to express actions which will take place in the future.
Person | Singular | Plural |

1st Person | I shall go to office tomorrow | We shall go to office tomorrow |
2nd Person | You will go to office tomorrow | You will go to office tomorrow |
3rd Person | He/she will go to office tomorrow | They will go to office tomorrow |
Note: The auxiliary verb shall is no longer used nowadays and will is used in its place.
Examples of Simple Future Tense
- Tom will go there by bus.
- I will finish typing this book within four days.
- Mary will give a speech tomorrow.
- They will not play badminton tomorrow.
- The farmers will reap their harvest before rains.

Future Continuous Tense
Future Continuous Tense is used for actions which will be in progress at some time in future.

3rd Person | He/she will be working tomorrow | They will be working tomorrow |
Examples of Future Continuous Tense
- They will be returning home in the evening.
- We will be flying kites.
- I will be taking the examination.
- They will be playing chess that time.
- She will be checking him from time to time.

Future Perfect Tense
Future Perfect Tense is used for an action that will happen before another action in the future.

Examples Future Perfect Tense
- Sheila will have gone by then.
- The movie will have half finished by the time we reach the theater.
- By the time Jack turns 25, he will have gotten his own apartment.
- My brother will have bought his own car before he gets married.

Future Perfect Continuous Tense
Future Perfect Continuous Tense is used to show that an action will continue for a certain period of time in the future.

Examples of Future Perfect Continuous Tense
